Has anyone ever asked you, “What makes a good marriage?” This can be a challenging question to answer because some of the factors contributing to a good marriage are obvious while others are not. These elusive elements of a thriving marriage are very important to the relationship, albeit mysterious.

There is an unseen hand of assistance in the marriage of every Christian, just like there is in every aspect of a believer’s life. This unseen hand is a part of the gift that every Christian receives when obediently acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God and accepting His dominion over the way life is to be lived.

The spiritual connection that the Holy Spirit provides to the receptive believer improves insight into the will of God and stimulates the desire to live selflessly and lovingly with others. This gift of the Holy Spirit of God is the fresh relational air breathed by those who want to be spiritually alive and who strive through faith for a fulfilling marriage.

If the Holy Spirit seems elusive and mysterious to you, that’s because this is the nature of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is unseen, yet ever present. The Spirit is influential without being coercive. The Holy Spirit works to protect and enrich marriages because it is the intention of God that all marriages bless the lives of both the husband and the wife.

There is an unseen hand of assistance in the marriage of every Christian, just like there is in every aspect of a believer’s life.
