Stephen_Curry_dribbling_2016_(cropped)Hello, Friends!Hoping that this letter finds you and yours enjoying this beautiful season of sunshine. As we are busier than ever at Coaching: Life Matters, I’d like to share some thoughts with you about the purpose and impact of coaching.Oftentimes, when coaching is discussed the conversation quickly turns towards athletics. Even for folks who do not follow major league sports such as the NFL and NBA -- so many of us can recall the names of coaches that made a difference for a team or an individual athlete. Why is this? Because I think the impact of coaching is real. For those involved in sports (or for those who follow sports), it’s not uncommon for a degree of an athlete's success or a team’s success to be attributed to the coaching they’ve received. For example, Stephen Curry (NBA Basketball Player) recently said, “To excel at the highest level, or any level really, you need to believe in yourself, and hands down, one the biggest contributors to self-confidence has been private coaching.”While athletic coaching may be the most recognized coaching in our culture, I want you to know that there are other types of coaching that help people define their purpose as it relates to their business, their family life, and/or their personal development.Over the course of the past year, Coaching: Life Matters has been exceptionally honored to provide professional coaching to a company based in Memphis, Tennessee called Easley Transportation. Having met with members of Easley Transportation’s team including Senior Management, Office Personnel, Drivers, Dock Workers, etc. -- it’s been a privilege to help their personnel understand how a person’s Core Story® impacts their professional life.Dustin, who is a team member of Easley Transportation shared this: “I have always known the relational dynamics we experience as children mold who we become as adults, but some of the fragmented pieces of my story were really illuminated through the Core Story® process. Understanding how the Core Beliefs we develop as children become our default frame of mind as adults; it all rings true in my work, my relationships, and my personal life.”No matter where you may find yourself in your personal or professional life, there’s no question that each of sometimes need guidance or encouragement. As a registered 501(3)c non profit educational organization, Coaching: Life Matters is in a unique position to provide guidance and encouragement to both small businesses as well as large corporations. We are able to provide our services to employees and staff free of charge, as the company makes a tax-deductible donation on their behalf. All of this to say, I hope you will help us spread the word and let your friends and colleagues know that we are here to help transform personal and professional goals into reality. As always, we are truly blessed to continue onward and upward in our work and remain grateful for each of you who continue to support Coaching: Life Matters through your donations, prayers and referrals.
