From Life to Life: Remembering My Friend and Chairman of the Board for Coaching: Life Matters
Dear Friends,Many of you may have heard, but we want to be sure that all of our supporters know that Ty Osman, Chairman of the Board of Coaching: Life Matters passed away a little over a month ago.On the morning of July 11th, while Ty was enjoying fishing on the Duck River here in Tennessee, a tragic drowning accident ended his earthly life. Alongside his family and friends, we have been grieving his departure, honoring his legacy and celebrating the incredible human being that he was.Not only was Ty a gift to us personally, he was a gift to Coaching: Life Matters as he served as the Chairman of the Board. When Coaching: Life Matters began in 2012, Ty became the Chairman and served in that role until he was called to heaven.Ty not only shared the vision and mission of Coaching: Life Matters, he held us up with his love and support. Because of Ty’s help and leadership over the years, Coaching: Life Matters has been able to bring hope and healing to people around the world.As we gather around the table we remember our friend, Ty. He was a man who noticed and honored the least among us. And we remember Jesus and the story of when he saw a widowed woman who gave everything she had and the lesson we continually need to be reminded of; God sees what man overlooks.If you knew Ty personally or professionally, you know how incredibly generous he was with his time, talents, resources and joy. As an admired business leader, Ty and his construction crew from Solomon Builders have led the way in building, repairing and refurbishing homes for widows and orphans (in partnership with an organization called Both Hands, where Ty also served as a Board Member).Just a few days before Ty was called to heaven, he and his wife, Nancy, were at our home celebrating my birthday. That evening, Ty shared a scripture with us:
“I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. I hearby command you: Be strong and courageous; be not frightened or dismayed.” – Joshua 1:5, 9As I think of how timely and beautiful this scripture is that Ty shared with us on our last meeting, I remember Ty’s son, who tragically died in an accident 8 years ago. The last scripture entry in Ty II’s journal was:
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”– Psalm 73:16Ty’s greatest desire was to see the face of Jesus, and the face of his son Ty II. And he is with them now, so we rejoice and celebrate the gift that Christ offers everyone—to move from life to life.We will deeply miss our friend but our hearts are not troubled because he is resting in the peace that passes all understanding.Gratefully,Terry S.
