Our History

Coaching. Life Matters was formed in 2011 out of the vision of Terry S. Smith, D.Min. to establish a 501(c)(3) designated organization funded by donations with a mission of demonstrating the value of the Core Story.  This is a time tested, structured interview tool that has proven over forty years of use to be a valuable aid to personal story discovery.  

By participating in the Core Story process, people discover the origin and impact of their controlling beliefs about power, control, affection, esteem, safety, and security.  The Core Story helps participants reveal Core Wounds, Core Lies, and embrace the necessity for Core Truth in the pursuit of wholeness and well-being.  

Terry not only wanted to use the Core Story in helping those coming to him for help as a highly qualified and experienced life coach and former counselor, but he also wanted to make available the resources necessary for Coaching. Life Matters to become a center for training counselors, psychologists, social workers, and ministers in the use of the Core Story tool.

Since its founding in 2011, Coaching. Life Matters has benefitted from the oversight of a Board of Directors consisting of men and women with experience in the fields of property development, publishing, fundraising, medicine and nursing, education, executive management, construction, media and communications, finance, and institutional development.  Nineteen different people have served on the Board so far, with three still serving as founding directors.  Due to the credibility of both Terry and his Board of Directors, Coaching. Life Matters has enjoyed a consistent level of financial support sufficient to allow Terry’s vision to be fulfilled.

Coaching. Life Matters is a resource that is ever improving and expanding.  The quality, quantity, and variety of its media offerings are increasing.  There will be more emphasis on training others to perform the Core Story and in networking with other compatible organizations that want to make use of the many resources provided by Coaching. Life Matters.  There is regular communication with individuals and organizations that share Terry’s vision and want to help provide the financial support that is necessary to carry out the mission of Coaching. Life Matters. 

The long-term goal of Coaching. Life Matters is to make available a body of work in the form of publications, videos, and audio recordings that will endure into the future to serve the needs of those who have found value in what Terry has put in place and who want others to have similar access this life changing, life enriching information.
